Salisbury,
MD. ARCON Welding LLC, a manufacturer of welding machines,
in response to expressed requests from the construction
and equipment rental industries, is introducing a new dual
voltage version of The Workhorse Stickweld
300S, a portable inverter type welding machine for industrial
applications. The new dual voltage version of this stick
welder operates on either 240V or 480V single or three phase
at 60Hz with a rated welding current from 10-300A @ 60%
duty cycle with maximum current of 400A @30% duty cycle.
The Workhorse will also do TIG Welding with
Lift-Start function. Besides the dual voltage version,
The Workhorse is still available for 240V input
voltage only, single phase or three-phase, and 480V three-phase.
For overseas market, a 400V three-phase version is available.
All models of The Workhorse are designed from
the inside out to be a durable machine that the operator
can rely on for many years of dependable service. In addition,
The Workhorse offers the following new and
unique features, not available on other brands:
Constant (Arc) Power (CP) for More Reliable
Stick Welding. With this unique feature, there is less dependency
on the operatorÖs ability to hold the tip of the electrode
at a constant distance from the base metal. In other words,
the CP feature compensates for an unsteady hand. With this
feature, The Workhorse is easier to master
than conventional Constant Current (CC) machines and enables
the average welder to become more skilled. Its user-friendly
CP feature will help him or her complete the job in less
time without sacrificing workmanship quality.
The
CP feature also gives the welder a distinct advantage in
jobs with overhead or other out-of-position welding.
Here, the convenient –drag method” is possible. With
the –drag method”, the edge of the coating of the electrode
is resting against the base metal and as the electrode is
consumed it moves forward on its own. With the Constant
Power (CP) such out-of-position work may therefore be completed
a lot faster.
Arc
Force Control (AFC) allows the operator to adjust the
current surge when a droplet shorts the arc. AFC drastically
reduces slag inclusions.
Input
Voltage Compensation (IVC) will provide steady output
voltage when the input voltage fluctuates during periods
of heavy power usage at local utilities, for example, or
from generators.
Voltage
Spike Protection. (VSP) The Workhorse
has a built-in VSP to handle surges up to 40,000 Amps. Such
Input voltage spikes are caused by surges from either generators
or utility power lines.
Rugged,
Very Reliable Power Supply Design
Unlike
other brands of inverter type welding machines sold on the
American market, The Workhorse is the only
welder on the market today with the proven design using
SCRs similar to the first inverter type welder designed
in 1975 and sold worldwide in excess of 100,000 units. Field
data statistics has proven the SCR design to be 100 times
more durable for this type of application than the IGBT
semiconductor used in competing brands. In addition, The
Workhorse incorporates other features that make
it an extraordinarily reliable tool, which the industrial
welder can depend on for many years of unfailing service.Other
